Petition started by Ecclesall Labour Party.

To: Sheffield City Council.

We, the undersigned, request that serious consideration be given to implementing measures to improve the safety of pedestrians (especially children and people using mobility aids or with disabilities) and all road users on Rustlings Road, Sheffield 11.

This is a very busy road, used frequently by pedestrians who cross to access the various entrances to Endcliffe Park, yet there is only one pedestrian crossing which is near the junction with Oakbrook Road. We are seeking an additional pedestrian crossing in a location near to one of the alternative entrances to the park, preferably the accessible entrance near the Jubilee Monument.

Other measures which could be considered include:

  • A 20mph speed limit on Rustlings Road from Oakbrook Road to Ecclesall Road
  • Restricting parking to improve visibility for pedestrians trying to cross.
  • Roadside railings opposite all pedestrian entrances to Endcliffe Park to prevent children running into the road.

This petition is promoted by Jenny Prideaux on behalf of Lisa Markham, both of Trades and Labour Club, Talbot Street, Sheffield S2 2TG.
