Sheffield Hallam elected its second Labour and first ever female MP in the snap General Election on 12th December 2019.
Olivia Frances Blake was selected by local party members as prospective parliamentary candidate in December 2018 and ran a positive campaign against her main rival, Laura Gordon for the Liberal Democrats.
During the campaign, people talked about their main concerns: Brexit; austerity; poverty; insecure work and low wages; the failing economy; the rip-off of privatised public services, rail and utilities; cuts to health and care provision; fear that the NHS will be sold off.
Despite the deep frustrations constituents had experienced during the tenure of the troubled previous MP, Hallam people once again came out on the right side of history, putting their trust in Olivia and the transformative manifesto on which she proudly stood.
