Ruth Milsom elected in Crookes and Crosspool ward

Ruth Milsom was selected by local party members as Labour’s candidate for the 2020 council elections. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, elections were postponed to May 2021, when Ruth was successfully elected as Councillor.

Ruth stood for election on a number of key pledges, including to defend NHS services in Sheffield, to stand up for the interests of students, and to improve local democracy.

She is an advocate of Proportional Representation and a member of the Electoral Reform Society.

Her long-standing commitment to health campaigns saw her take on the role of Secretary for both the Yorkshire Socialist Health Association, and Sheffield Save Our NHS.

She also belongs to the Woodland Trust, Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust, and the RSPB, and is an activist within Labour For A Green New Deal.
